Murphy & Mickey

Murphy the Bat Dog

Murphy has been with the owner of Cornerstone K9, since he was a 8 week old puppy. He was trained as a PSA sport dog, and made it to the upper levels of the sport. Along the way Murphy earned multiple 1st 2nd & 3rd place finishes in levels. As well as x2 Regional Championship finishes, 2nd & 3rd place, and x1 3rd place title at the National Championship.

Murphy retired from dog sports a couple years ago and started looking for a new job. While Murphy was searching for a baseball team to retrieve bats for, he was offered an opportunity to be a demo dog for SOF Week (Special Operation Forces) at Ft Bragg. Although it was only a weekend gig, Murphy had the time of his life demonstrating all the new technology coming out for combat K9s.

Just after SOF Week ended, Murphy landed his first job as an official bat dog for the ONSL team, the Sanford Spinners. Murphy retrieved bats for the Spinners for an entire season, and was extremely good at it. The next baseball season in 2025, Murphy was called up to the MILB under the Chicago White Sox Minor League team, the Winston Salem Dash. Murphy has just completed the 2025 season with the Dash and has already signed back on for the 2026 season.

In 2026 Murphy will be the official bat dog for the MILB team the Winston-Salem Dash, and the ONSL team the Sanford Spinners.

Mickey the Bat Dog

Mickey is the new up and coming bat dog, trying to follow in Murphy’s footsteps. Mickey is a red fox colored Labrador Retriever, with an insane amount of energy and love of retrieving baseball bats already. Mickey was 6 months old when he made his first practice bat retrieves on two different Minor League fields in the same month, at the Winston-Salem Dash & Fayetteville Woodpeckers stadiums.

Mickey has really captured the hearts of the baseball fans, by offering puppy kisses and hugs to anyone that will take them!
Watch out for Mickey during the 2026 baseball season. You might see the wild lab shoot across the field for a bat!

Hey! My name is Erin! I've been a professional dog trainer for about 18 years now.

I've spent most of my life traveling all over the country interning for different trainers and learning all types of training and methods. I was a head trainer for about 10 years before I graduated from National K9 in Ohio in 2016.

Then on my dog training journey, I completed a yearlong internship with Logan Haus Kennels in west Virginia working with military/working dogs and learning detection training in 2019. I have a 12yr old Border Collie Aussie mix named Dodge, who herds geese.

A 7yr old Belgian Malinois named Rebel who trains for PSA (Protection Sport Association) and does narcotic detection. A 3yr old foster dog named War who's half Dutch Shepherd half Bandog, and a 16 week old Beauceron puppy named Sixx who's hopefully going to be doing SAR (Search and Rescue) when he's full grown.

The psychology of dogs has fascinated me for most of my life, and I'm constantly furthering my education. I’ve trained a wide range of dogs over the years. From small to large pet dogs, to working K9s!

At this point I pretty much speak dog, and in my world, dogs are life!
